Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 August 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Trip Planner handles your information. By using the service, you agree to the practices described here.
1.Overview
Trip Planner (“we”, “us”) helps you turn a single sentence into a grounded travel plan. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can, and we never sell your personal information.
2.Information we collect
Depending on how you use the service, this may include:
- An anonymous device key stored in your browser, used to attribute the plans you create and to apply fair daily limits.
- Trip inputs you provide — origin, destination, dates, number of travellers, style, budget, and any free-text notes.
- Account information if you choose to sign in — your email address, handled through our authentication provider (Supabase).
- Optional content you add to your account, such as saved trips and travel documents.
- Technical logs — request metadata and third-party API usage we record to keep the service reliable and within free-tier limits.
3.How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Generate, save, and sync your trip plans.
- Apply rate limits and prevent abuse of the free service.
- Verify places, climate, and visa references against trusted sources.
- Diagnose problems, improve reliability, and keep the service secure.
4.How your data is shared
To build a plan, we send the relevant trip details — not your identity — to third-party providers, and we use infrastructure providers to run the service:
- AI providers (Google Gemini and, as a fallback, Groq) compose narrative and structure around verified facts.
- Data providers — Geoapify, Foursquare, Open-Meteo, Wikipedia, and Unsplash — supply real places, climate, references, and imagery.
- Infrastructure — Supabase (database and authentication) and Vercel (hosting) store and serve your data.
- We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers.
5.Cookies and local storage
We store an anonymous key and your interface preferences in your browser's local storage so the service works without forcing you to sign in. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6.Data retention
Saved trips remain available while your account is active. Anonymous plans and technical logs are retained only for as long as needed to operate the service, and are then removed or de-identified. You can delete your trips or your account at any time.
7.Your choices and rights
You can view, edit, and delete your trips from within the app, and delete your account to remove associated personal data. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, export, or erase your data — contact us and we will honour valid requests.
8.Security
Data is encrypted in transit. User-owned tables are protected with row-level security, and privileged keys are used only in server-side code. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and limit what we hold.
9.Children
Trip Planner is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
10.International processing
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will revise the “last updated” date above, and for material changes we will make the update more prominent.
