1.Our standard
Saferni has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This applies everywhere on Saferni — the Saferni app for iPhone and Android, the website at saferni.ae, trip conversations, posts, stories, profiles and open trips.
Any account found sharing, requesting or promoting this material, or using Saferni to contact a child for sexual purposes, is removed permanently, and we report it to the authorities.
2.What is prohibited
- Any image, video, text or link that sexualises a child, including drawn, edited or AI-generated material.
- Grooming: building trust with a child, or with the adults around them, in order to sexually exploit them.
- Sextortion: threatening to share intimate images of a child, or of anyone, to obtain more images, money or contact.
- Using an open trip, a gathering or a conversation to arrange to meet a child for sexual purposes, or to traffic a child.
- Asking a child for personal contact details, photos, or to move the conversation to another app.
- Sharing, trading or asking where to find any of the above.
3.Who can use Saferni
Saferni accounts are for people aged 16 and over, as our Terms of Service require; buying a membership or credit pack requires being an adult. We do not knowingly allow younger children to hold an account, and an account we find belongs to a child under that age is closed.
4.Safety built into the product
- Every message in a trip conversation is checked automatically as it is sent. Messages containing phone numbers, email addresses, payment details, links to other apps or sites, threats or slurs are held for a person on our team to read before anyone else sees them.
- Other travellers see only your first name and profile picture. Your email address, phone number and surname are never shown to another member.
- One-to-one conversations open only between people who share a trip, or as a private reply to a story you were able to see.
- Anyone can block another member. A block hides that person's messages, stops either of you opening a conversation with the other, and removes any follow or friendship between you.
- Your device's location is never shown to another traveller.
- Our servers remove the location data a phone writes into photos and videos before they are stored.
- Our team can stop an account from writing in conversations, uploading media or posting, and can close it.
5.How to report
In the app or on the website, use Report on a message, on a member, or on a post or story, and choose “Made me feel unsafe” where it is offered. You can also block the person straight away. Reports go to our team, and the person you report is never told who reported them.
You can also write to our child-safety contact at info@saferni.ae with the subject “Child safety”. Include the member's name, the trip or post, and what happened. Do not send us copies of abusive images — tell us where they are and we will preserve them properly.
If a child is in immediate danger, call the police first. In the United Arab Emirates, call 999.
6.How we act on a report
- A person on our team reviews every child-safety report, as a priority over other reports.
- Material that breaks these standards is removed, and the account responsible is closed and barred from returning.
- Reported content is kept as evidence for at least 365 days, and longer where an investigation or the law requires it, so that it can be given to the authorities.
- We report child sexual abuse material and child exploitation to the relevant law-enforcement authorities in the United Arab Emirates, and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the equivalent authority where the people involved are elsewhere.
- We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement investigating harm to children.
7.The law we follow
We comply with the child-protection laws that apply to us, including UAE Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 on Child Rights (Wadeema's Law) and the UAE's laws on combating cybercrime, and with the child-safety requirements of Google Play and the Apple App Store.
